![]() Its lack of coverage is only a problem in other games where Dark types exist. It also has pretty good special defense, so it only had trouble tanking physical hits. The closest thing it has to a counter is Gengar, who is slower, frail, and weak to Psychic. That's true, but Alakazam is just that good and has no true counters. If it wont kill the first turn, it might be in for a rough time. It has little to no moveset (its worse in gen 1 where it had only psychic, but im pretty sure its still bad here) and its frail. I’d personally place Alakazam a tier lower. Currently doing my first FRLG nuzlocke and would love more info.Įdit: Everywhere I wrote Red I meant Gary/Blue/Green/Champion/Rival If I'm mistaken I'd love to be enlightened, let me know. The single thing Omanyte does better is handle Red's Rhydon, as far as I can see. Both of them should do great against Blaine with either STAB Water or Rock moves, Omanyte does better? against Giovanni (slower and weak to Ground, though), however, Kabutops pulls WAY ahead on the Elite 4:īoth are useless against Lorelei and Bruno, but Kabutops' high attack means its Rock and Ground moves hit way harder and look at that: Agatha's Poison types' Ground weakness is better abused by Kabutops, Lance's team's Flying types' Rock weakness is better abused by Kabutops and (even better if you went Bulbasaur) Red's Pidgeot AND Charizard AND Gyarados get murdered harder by Kabutops' Rock moves than anything Omanyte could do (and with some EVs Kabutops will outspeed all of those, which Omanyte can't). I'm extremely curious why you think Omastar is A while Kabutops is E, by the time you can awaken the fossils you'll be pretty far into the game. ![]() Thank you for your suggestions! I'll keep them in mind. However, I feel its frailty, lack of power, and terrible typing are just enough to keep it out of the next tier (imo, of course). It also has trouble taking special attacks and is weak to ground, which makes it risky to use against ground types.īutterfree is on par with the B-tier mons due to Compoundeyes Sleep Powder It is very strong, but also very slow, which doesn't help. ![]() Fortunately, there likely won't be any surprise grass attacks in gen 3. Omastar could probably be A-tier the strongest Surf in the game is a nice thing to have and its worst weaknesses (Grass and Electric) are fairly easy to play around On paper, it doesn't have very many favorable match ups, but it is good in practice. Charmander literally burns Viridian Forest down, which may limit poison deaths or other unnecessary deaths (you could use Pidgey, but Charmander is more useful imo). Having a fire Pokémon is very helpful early game, just not in important battles. Fire-types aren't just that useful in Kanto. I actually don't know if Charizard is better than most of the B-tier Pokemon. It's obviously very good, but it comes long after the water gym has been beaten. I just think Exeggcutor comes too late to be as useful as the other two. I think Victreebel and Vileplume are at the same level of Exeggutor are about the same That's about it though, I like this list. Butterfree is on par with the B-tier mons due to Compoundeyes Sleep Powder By extension, I would personally put Kabutops in E-tier because there isn't a justifiable reason to pick it over Omastar in these games, but if you aren't taking opportunity cost into account I think C-tier is right for it ![]() Omastar could probably be A-tier the strongest Surf in the game is a nice thing to have and its worst weaknesses (Grass and Electric) are fairly easy to play around in Gen III part of the reason why Water-types are OP. I think I would rather have a Tauros, Hypno or Poliwrath over a Charizard tbh With the starters, I always take opportunity cost into account, and picking Charmander greatly weakens your team's early game strength, and the late-game power of Charizard is overshadowed by how superfluous having a Fire-type on your team is. I actually don't know if Charizard is better than most of the B-tier Pokemon. Bulbasaur gets away with S-tier because its "fast" 80 base Speed and early Razor Leaf I don't think this makes Exeggutor A-tier though I think Vileplume and Victreebel are B-tier. If you don't have a Psychic-type already, then Exeggutor is a good choice. I think Victreebel and Vileplume are at the same level of Exeggutor you get Bellsprout/Oddish at a point where it is more useful but Exeggutor has a superior late-game due to STAB Psychic the only Pokemon in the Elite Four that resist Psychic are Jynx, Slowbro (lol) and Alakazam. I agree with the majority of this list, with a few slight deviations: I think this is the most fair FRLG tier list I have seen.
